Interest in beauty has been around since the Egyptian Dynasties. Both Queen Cleopatra and Queen Nefertiti where already using treatments as part of their normal beauty regime. Aromatherapy was in use and so was Khol (black colour used for making a soft, strong eyeliner). The use of wigs, henna and other forms of accessories where a normal way of life for the rich in the Egyptian times.


The syllabus includes:


Theory sessions will be done once a week for 4/5 hrs. The study of ingredients used in beauty products. How a facial with mask and massage may be done. Manicure, pedicure, different waxing available (hot, cool, sugaring), make-up, eyelash/brow tint, eyelash perm, eyebrow shape may be done on both men and women. Anatomy and Physiology of Histology, The Skin, Skeletal system, Muscular system, Vascular system, Neurological system, Endocrine system, Hair and hair follicle, Lymphatic system. Diseased and disorders, contra-indications, referral procedures. Tests and HW are given regularly.

Students sitting for ITEC exams need to prepare a case study showing that they have been working with 5 different clients, which will be explained and monitored during the course by the tutor.

Practical sessions needs to be done and will be monitored.


Important!


All courses consist of Theory and Practice which will be done during the lesson and practice is to be done extra to build hours of training (except for Diet and Nutrition).


Practice can be done at the Centre. The use of the Centre facilities is included in the fees for/of the courses.


All courses also consist of a Unit which puts together: Ethics, Sterilisation, First Aid, Business Studies. This Unit is compulsory but students sit for the Unit only once and the result of this exam will always be added to the result of each exam that the students sits after the initial one.


Practical examinations will be conducted by ITEC examiners.

Theory examinations are all Multiple choice: Stem, 1 key and 3 distracters.


Seminars or short courses are available for people who are already studying in the field.
